Our first event this summer is the ACCP Clinical Pharmacy Challenge! This will be on June 17th from 6-7PM. Just like the research challenge, One team will represent UOP at the national competition against other pharmacy institutions. Eligible participants would be P1s and P2s
As you can see, there are three major sections - trivia, case study, and jeopardy style! These sections have time limits which will be a great way to challenge yourselves about topics such as …….
You can go ahead and utilize the QR code provided on the slide to learn more about the competition, the timeline, possible prizes, and example questions.
Regarding example questions, I’d like to bring your attention to the bottom right. This is an example question in the trivia round from last year’s competition (also provided in the website). So just for fun, what do you think the right answer is? Go ahead and type it in the chat.
So since St. John’s Wort is a known CYP 3A4 strong inducer. Option1is correct because it would result in lower concentration of apixiban and may induce CVA/VTE. (stroke and blood clots) -
So questions like these would appear in the trivia round… If you’re thinking of going into residency or fellowship, this would be a great event to participate in and get practice on the information that may be asked from you, as well as something you can talk about in your interviews! It is also a great refresher before going into APPEs! Or you know, also just to have fun and see what you know and simply learn from the event! Next slide please.

Option 2 is incorrect because St. John’s wort is an inducer and would result in lower levels of apixiban. Options 3 and 4 are inappropriate because St. John’s wort being a dietary supplement may contain varying levels of substance and would result in fluctuating levels of apixiban and it is difficult to account for with dose adjustment.

Residency Mock Interviews

Date: Monday, June 20^th from 6-8 p.m.
Collaboration with PLS and CSHP
Opportunity for students to prepare for residency interviews
Interviews will be conducted by faculty and pharmacists
CV’s should be sent in prior so the interviewers can review them
Students will be divided into groups and have time allocated for an interview, CV review, and questions

Collaboration with CSHP
Opportunity for students to review their CV with a pharmacist
1:1 time with a pharmacist
CV’s should be sent in prior so the interviewers can review them
