Pages Module: Content Builder
Adding and Editing Page Content
Types of Content Pages
There are 2 types of pages that can be created in the Pages module.
Content page: This kind of page is informational; mostly made up of text, images, and buttons. Content pages are given the Default layout made up of a common header, body area, and footer. Header and footer are automatically added to these pages and cannot be edited on an individual page basis.
Custom Search Results Page: These pages include property results and are given the “Booking” layout in the Page Settings, which means they inherit the layout of the search results page (SRP). This allows for additional page settings that allow you to pre-filter the results according to a PMS property attribute (such as a pet-friendly amenity). You can also hand-select properties individually to appear on a Custom Search Results page. Additional training on Custom Search Results pages can be found here. Content can also be added to Custom SRPs via the Content Builder.
Accessing the Content Builder for Pages
After initially creating the page in the Page Settings, and determining the Layout for the page (Default or Booking), you will likely want to add content to it. You also may want to edit content for an existing page. In either case find the page on which you want to add or edit content in the Pages module.
Click the Content button
This opens a content builder where you can begin editing the page content.
Adding/Editing Content in the Content Builder
In the Content Builder, you will see a blank template page with the common header and footer in the background. The middle part of the page (under the Page header) is where you will add your content.
On the right side of the screen you will see an arrow button
that will open a menu of options
From this menu, you can drag and drop content blocks and further edit them on the page. Note that the menu shows Basic options by default, but there are other categories of content you can view by clicking the dropdown options at the top. This allows you to “mix and match” text, images, buttons, and other elements to build a content layout that best represents your brand. *All content will automatically inherit the styling of the rest of the website (fonts and colors).
*When copying text from another source, simply copying and pasting may bring over hidden styles and formatting from the source. To strip this out, paste the text into a basic word processor like Microsoft Notepad first, then copy and paste the plain text.
Text Content
When adding a text block, it comes with placeholder text by default. This can be replaced with original written text.
Each text block has text editing controls you can view by clicking in the text box.
From these options you can do basic editing functions like add links, Bold, underline, change font size, change the color, etc.
Images
Content blocks that include images come with placeholders you will need to replace with images from your computer. It is recommended that the images you plan to use are optimized and ready to upload beforehand. Large images will slow the page load time. We recommend compressing and/or cropping images to a max file size of 300-500 kb, and adjusting dimensions to mimic the aspect ratio of the placeholder image you are replacing. Dimensions don’t have to be exact.
Placeholder images can be replaced by clicking the image and then clicking the Image icon:
Resizing Images
Once an image is added, you can size it to fit the content section:
*Note that resizing an image does not compress it. Images need to be compressed before upload, with image editing software.
There are other basic image controls you can access by clicking on the Settings icon on each image.
Here you can add borders, edit padding, etc.
Positioning Callouts
Callouts (the large tiles on the right) are part of the Default Layout, and output from the Callouts module.
These can be removed or moved to the left side of the content page by using the controls at the bottom of the Content Builder screen
Select Left Sidebar to move them to the left side, or Full to remove them. Selecting Full makes the content stretch to the full width of the page.
**Changing the layout will erase any content you have placed on the page unless you save it first.
Editing with HTML
Each content block has an HTML button which allows you to add HTML or edit the existing HTML
You can design an entire page with HTML by dragging over any content block and replacing the HTML on that block with your own HTML.
Publishing a Page/Saving Draft
After editing a page or adding content, you can either publish the content to the page, or save it as a draft using the buttons in the bottom right corner:
Publishing will save the content to the page (whether or not the page is in the navigation) as it appears in the Content Builder
Saving a draft will keep the current content intact (if there is already content on the existing page), while saving the changes in the Content Builder until you Publish it.
Adding Content to a Custom Search Results Page (CSRP)
CSRPs are generally created using the most common search parameters so users can quickly access results they may be interested in, with one click. These can then be set as Popular Searches on the homepage, or linked from anywhere on the site (navigation, content pages, etc.). CSRPs inherit the layout of the search results page.
When setting up the Page Settings, set the Layout to Booking. This adds 2 additional tabs to the top of the screen: Custom Results and Popular Search.
Open the Custom Results tab to view parameters for filtering. Notice that this screen has similar filters to your main search results page. You can set parameters from the Custom Results tab so that viewing the page on the site automatically filters the results based on the parameters you choose here (Pet Friendly, Properties with Pools, Oceanfront, Ski In Ski Out, etc).
Once the page is set up and programmed to filter on the parameter you choose, you can add content to the top of the page using the Content Builder. To do this, be sure to save changes to your page settings, Then click Content from the page settings screen
