Responsibilities of ELAC

The ELAC shall be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Advising the principal and staff in the development of a site plan for English learners and submitting the plan to the School Site Council for consideration of inclusion in the School Plan for Student Achievement.
  • Assisting in the development of the schoolwide needs assessment.
  • Ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
  • Each ELAC shall have the opportunity to elect at least one member to the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC).

El ELAC será responsable de las siguientes tareas:

  • Aconsejar al director y personal docente sobre el desarrollo de un plan para aprendices de inglés y someter ese plan al consejo directivo escolar para posible inclusión en el Plan escolar para el rendimiento (SPSA, por sus siglas en inglés).
  • Ayudar con el desarrollo de la encuesta sobre las necesidades de la escuela.
  • Maneras de informar a los padres de familia sobre la importancia de la asistencia escolar.

¿Quién es elegible para ser miembro de ELAC?

  • Padres o tutores de estudiantes multilingües que asisten a San Dieguito High School Academy (SDHSA).

District English Learner Advisory (DELAC): Representative: Attends the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) meetings and provides reports to ELAC. The rep is the spokesperson for the school site. The DELAC rep shall only represent 1 school and must be a parent of an EL student.

  • You can call or email 24 hours a day.

  • You can also send a note with your child.

  • Personal/Unexcused absences (Ex: vacations) are considered truancies (unexcused). It is each teacher’s decision to allow for make-up work as well as the amount of time allowed.

  • When your student is absent, they should check google classroom and talk to their teacher about missed assignments.

SDA Student Events

Freshman Social - On Friday, August 29, during homeroom. Donuts and fun activities on the stadium field.

3 vs 3 Soccer Tournament - Sept 15-18 at lunch on the stadium field. Students need to sign up with ASB.

SDA Club Fair - Sept 19 during homeroom and lunch. We have over 90 student clubs that students can join.

SDA's Flag Football Tournament is Friday, Oct 17 from 3:30pm-7:30pm on the Stadium Field. Students can form a team of 7-11 players. Students can sign up to play with a team by using this link or go to ASB room. This is a fun and festive event that has become a tradition at SDA for many years! All abilities are welcome to play!

Parents - We need 12 referees for the student flag football games that day. If you are interested in helping out, please click here to sign up or email Rod.Keilor@sduhsd.net

SDA's Homecoming Dance is on Saturday, October 18 @ SDA (7:30pm-10:00pm). There will be a DJ, photobooths, live bands, Silent Disco, and great food and snacks. This is one of our most popular dances; encourage your student to attend! Tickets will go on sale in mid-September.

We are also seeking parent donations for snacks/drinks at the dance, such as prepackaged cookies, chips, 2-liter sodas, healthy snack options, and gluten-free options. Click here if you would like to donate snack items.

We encourage you to purchase an ASB sticker for your student for $50. They will receive a $10 discount at each school dance, $10 off the cost of a Yearbook, free admission to sporting events, a free SDA T-shirt, the funds will also help support club events, exhibition day, school Javas, food at Forum meetings, and many other school activities. Here is the link to purchase an ASB Sticker or go to the finance office.

SDA's Battle of the Bands will take place at lunch on the PAC stage in late October- early November. Students interested in performing can click on this link to sign up or go to ASB room.
