All teachers will have different ways of sharing their Zoom links. They might be posted on Google Classroom, Seesaw, or a class website. Be sure to check with the teacher if you and the student do not know where to access the link.

TEACHER POV | Getting Ready for Zoom

Different sites and teachers will have different ways of how they set up their meetings. There are a lot of potential settings. We’re going to cover the basics in the “Schedule a Meeting” section.

What’s New With Zoom Presentation

ZOOM

  • Topic, Description, When, Duration, Time Zone: there is no time limit for teacher accounts
  • Registration: If you require registration, students will have to log into their Zoom accounts to attend
  • Meeting ID: This will depend on preference
  • Security: Enable waiting room if working with students
  • Video: I recommend starting with video off
  • Audio: Select “both” - this increases accessibility
  • Meeting Options: I recommend “mute participants upon entry”
  • Alternative Hosts: An alternative host can start the meeting and has full host capabilities

SLIDESMANIA.COM

TEACHER POV | In-Meeting Features

ZOOM

Co-hosts can help manage security, polls, and recordings, but cannot create/launch breakout rooms or end the meeting.

Security: You can allow participants to share their screen, chat, rename themselves, unmute themselves, send them to the waiting room, lock the meeting, remove participants, or report

  • You can also access a lot of these features in the participants icon or by clicking on the three dots in the upper right hand corner of someone’s video

If you are the host, you will have extra features and capabilities in your launch bar. If you are an alternative host, you have full host privileges until the host shows up. Then you become a co-host.

  • Similar to a computer hard drive
  • Can create folders for organization
  • Menu on the left to navigate

FYI - “Drive” = large folder

GOOGLE SUITE

If you or their teacher have shared any google item with them that they need to access, you can direct them to this folder

Teacher POV | Finding Shared Items

GOOGLE SUITE

Emails will usually notify you if something is shared

In your drive use the “Shared with me” file to narrow down your search

Tip: Have students name their documents clearly to find them easily

Helps to have them put their last name in the title

(i.e: Cowdin Revolution Essay)

Student POV | Google Docs
