this is where pam lives now she lives in some place outside of homestead, not with us.
ut, there was one huge thing missing: a sense of home and belonging. I left her facility thinking how sad it was that Pam’s new home had no pictures up on the walls. It felt barren, not like the home or family that my loving Aunt had grown up in. Then I realized that I could help Pam transition by actually taking pictures of her and her new home family.
have you ever heard of the saying A picture is worth a thousand words? well that’s not even the half of it. Photos are what bind us together. They capture our memories and ,over time, seeing the memories visually (in the fphot) keeps us close even as time between the memories go by.
Research shows that photographs are a powerful tool in establishing a real sense of belonging, and they help make a house look and feel like a homeInstill a commonality of purpose – like team photos prove that that creates a sense of community among the team weve all been on a team - its gerat - reserach shows that photogarphs actually help a team, feel like a team. - just a photograph! and family photos in a house – when you go to someone's house what do you usually see on the walls? BABY: ha one of your parents ever shown you a picture of you from when you were younger? when u were onger or paretns showed u pics of urself and overtime u saw that picture over and over agian - photos have the power to create a memory that you never actullay created
this is why photogetherness works: i created a community in my acuts home throug photogarphy
this is mimi - this photograph brings out her who lighthearted essence,
I took pictures of every one in their individual unit, i framed each pcites and i had them hung on the walls, additionally: i made a family calander - in the kitchen. even i love calanders and im a digital native. - they felt special.- the fake angry the one on the left potryas
these pictures show their essence, but in a way that makes them both seem so genuine and warm. the lighthearted smil on BLANKs face - this was truley wonderful.
heres a chart estimating th ecost - so far on my own with help from family and friedn i did one. in order to do otehr 9 the total is 3305 - thats made up of web and incorperating cost, frame and mat , calanders, and phtograpphy props. so far ive competed one unit, hung phots, and one calander, to finish the other 9 units.
3000 $ ! thats a lot of money! but its for 100 residents!!! but only $33 per resident, now thats a lot of value
well im also applying for the girls awesome foundation, and i have a go fund me, and i have a job, and if i cant raise the money but ill cover it myself.
yes i build a community but if you could see these poeples faces when i take their pictures - i give them my full attention and they jsut light up with joy - thats prcieless. Yes THIS WAS A REALLY REWARDING EXPERIENCE FOR ME BUT WHAT IT DID FOR THE PEOPLE IN PAMS COMMUNITY IS TENFOLD THE IMPACT COULD EVER HAVE ON ME
My hope is to take great photographs and make a small but meaningful difference in a few people’s lives.
