Mushrooming hope in Nakivale
One of Permaculture Partners’ major projects last year was to bring mushroom cultivation to refugees in Nakivale. Through an initial 2-hour workshop we worked with refugees from Biogreen and others and local audiences, the local audiences funding the mushroom supplies for refugees in Nakivale. After that initial session, 20 refugees were granted scholarships to Milkwood’s online Mushroom Cultivation course.

Mbiame New Vision
Mbiame New Vision Multipurpose Farming and Development Association is a dynamic, youth-led nonprofit organization based in Cameroon. Founded with the mission to empower local youth through sustainable agriculture and community development, the association has successfully implemented several impactful projects.
**Organic Farming Empowerment and Entrepreneurship:** - One of the core focus of our association is promoting organic farming practices among youth. Through training and capacity building workshops, we equip young farmers with modern agricultural techniques that emphasize sustainability and environmental stewardship. By encouraging entrepreneurship in agriculture, we aim to create economic opportunities and improve livelihoods within the community.
**Environmental Restoration for Adaptation:** - Recognizing the importance of environmental sustainability, we undertake initiatives for environmental restoration. This includes reforestation projects, soil conservation efforts, and promoting biodiversity conservation. By restoring degraded lands and promoting sustainable land use practices, they contribute to climate resilience and adaptation in the region.
**Community Boreholes for Sustainable Water Access:** Access to clean and reliable water is crucial for community health and development. The association has successfully implemented projects to establish community boreholes, ensuring sustainable water access for local residents. This initiative not only addresses a basic human need but also enhances community resilience and supports agricultural productivity.

**Youth Leadership and Community Engagement:** - As a youth-led organization, Mbiame New Vision Multipurpose Farming and Development Association places a strong emphasis on youth leadership and community engagement. We empower young people to take active roles in decision-making processes and community development initiatives. Through educational programs and advocacy efforts, we promote sustainable development practices and encourage youth participation in local governance.
**Impact and Future Directions:** - Our efforts have resulted in tangible impacts such as improved agricultural productivity, enhanced community resilience to climate change, and increased access to clean water. Looking ahead, we aim to expand our reach, innovate in sustainable agriculture technologies, and further strengthen partnerships with local communities and stakeholders.
Overall, Mbiame New Vision Multipurpose Farming and Development Association stands as a beacon of youth-driven sustainable development in Cameroon, demonstrating the power of grassroots initiatives in fostering positive change and improving livelihoods.

Elijah Elijah Astute·
Hello everyone,
we are thankful for everyone who had donated to our current project of building up a permaculture learning center at Nakivale Refugee camp. Your donations had pushed us too closer to our goal as we have put door and windows to our building.
We are once again calling up your support to enable us to finish our last steps of plastering, ceiling and concrete. Your support means a lot to us.. any donations is highly welcomed and appreciated as it has already what to do with the building.
Thanks in advance to our generous donors and supporters. You can make your donation to our gofundme

Learn with Grandma - Tree Planting
Valerie Wood-Gaiger - I have seen the way our planet is being destroyed, let's see if we can turn back the tide! I wanted to 'something' special for my 80th and decided to ask people - all over the world to plant trees. The result was beyond anything I could have imagined over 2 Million trees all over the World!
But billions are needed. Planting Trees is not the solution but It is something that most of us can do - S0 PLEASE PLANT a Tree for Granny.
If you can't manage a tree; plant something, even a pot of herbs will help clean our air and help keep our world Beautiful.

Jessica’s theory is that refugees have suffered extreme disconnection, from their communities, environments, from outside society in general. Her aim, beyond educating communities in permaculture, is to reconnect groups where they are disconnected. So for example, in her work with African Best Care Center she has helped reconnect the group to outside supporters, pen pals from Australia, companies and donors. Her training goes beyond sustainability to topics such as social media engagement, fundraising, and now filmmaking. She believes the more skills groups have connecting with the outside world, the better position they will be in to put forward their projects and succeed.
