  • Students will be issued a GCS Chromebook at the beginning of the school year that they will be responsible for.

      • Students will need to bring their Chromebook to school with them for all in-person learning days.
      • Students will also be responsible for proper charging and care of their issued Chromebook.

  • According to the StrongSchoolsNC Public Health Toolkit, paper based materials such as books and paper are not considered high-risk for Covid-19 transmission and do not need additional cleaning or disinfection.

    • Binders, college books, and other paper materials will continue to be used as tools to facilitate instruction.

STUDENT SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT

  • All schools have been encouraged to provide a “mask-break” during the day.
    • Students/Staff MUST be greater than 6 feet apart
    • Students/Staff MUST be outside
  • Hallways will be one-way traffic only. Staff will monitor.
  • Only 1 person at a time in restrooms. Wait with 6 ft. of distancing.
  • Breaks and class changes will be staggered.

KEEPING Gaston links CLEAN:

  • Staff will disinfect their classrooms prior to the next class period beginning with the provided misting E-23 disinfectant bottles.
    • Staff will spray each surface and have the students wipe them down with a disposable paper towel.
  • Gaston College housekeeping staff will assist with cleaning/sanitizing.
  • Multiple hand-sanitizer stations are available throughout the building.
  • Sanitizing wipes will also be utilized in appropriate areas to ensure proper cleanliness.

  • All staff and students will wear a mask at all times while inside the building. Masks are also to be worn while on the school bus.

    • The only exception to this is when students/staff are eating lunch.
    • Mask/gaiter is acceptable - clear face shield is not (unless accompanied by a mask)

This room will be monitored by Gaston Links staff until the student is picked up from school.

BREAKFAST AND LUNCH PLANS

Students will report directly to their 1st period class to eat.

Gaston Links staff will pick up breakfast from GECHS and deliver it to classroom.

Students will eat lunch in designated classrooms.

GCS lunches will be delivered to each classroom from 11:30-12:30.

Students who bring their own lunch will still be permitted to do so.

ALL meals are FREE at least through August 31, 2020

Lunch:

  • Ordered in advance using GCS Nutrition’s Google Form
    • 2 choices: Ex = hamburger or burrito → student gets whatever sides come with it whether they want them or not (+ Reg or Choc Milk only)
    • Order will need to be placed prior to 9:30 am
  • No money will be exchanged for any food, at all, for at least the month of August
    • There is talk of a National School Lunch Program due to COVID-19
  • A “service kit” will also be delivered to each room containing pre-packaged utensils, napkin, & condiments.

GUIDELINES TO KEEP US SAFE

  • Visitors should follow the following protocols:
    • When needing to check-out a student, call/text Gaston Links Staff before you arrive: 704-678-3784 or 980-745-2428
    • Call or text to let us know you have arrived and remain in your car. Staff will escort your student to you.
    • Always call Gaston Links. Never call the college.
    • In case of emergency where Visitors have to enter the building, they will be temperature screened prior to entering and must wear a mask.
