Facilities

  • Toilets and changing facilities are in the main building at Middlesbrough Sports Village adjacent to the Circuit. There are showers and changing areas. Please ask at reception should you need directions. There are also toilets in the hut at the cycle circuit too.
  • Café : We will have our club refreshments corner up and running inside the hut at the cycle circuit. We will have the usual cordial juice, coffee, teas, biscuits and cakes all for sale. Everything is 50p per item, except for juice which is free to all participants. 100% of the proceedings go towards our youth fund which is put towards and supports Cleveland Wheelers Cycling Club youth activities. Your support and generosity is much appreciated through this process.
  • First Aid is provided by Medics UK. If assistance is required, please contact any marshal or member of the event team.
  • There are other sports activities taking place at the Sports Village so please be aware of this when moving around the area. NO CYCLING on the pathway between the main building and the 5-aside football. This is a very congested area with football spectators. Please dismount and push your bike until you are within the area of the cycle circuit.
  • Helmets must be always worn whilst riding, whether warming up on rollers, turbo trainer, or on the circuit or during racing. Failure to do so could lead to being disqualified, marshals and event volunteers will ask riders to dismount.
  • Bikes may not be taken inside the main sports village building or cycle circuit hut, and we strongly recommend that if you need to visit the main building then you walk from the circuit and do not leave your bike unattended outside.

Preparation / Warm up

  • You may warm up on rollers/turbo in the areas surrounding the circuit.
  • Please don't warm up or ride in the car park, pavements where people are walking or ride around the hut, as space is likely to be limited and it can be unsafe not only for riders, but spectators too.
  • Please choose your place carefully and do not obstruct any race officials, first aid vehicles, cars or members of the public.
  • There will be sighting / warm up laps on the circuit prior to each race. Riders will be allowed access to the circuit prior to the start of their race as and when instructed by the race officials and / or marshals.

Time to Race

  • The Race Commissaire will hold a short rider briefing on the start line prior to each race start to cover race information, conduct, and any safety issues and hazards.
  • All riders will only ride the circuit in a clockwise direction and will enter the circuit via the paddock gate. All riders must turn left on the track after entering the circuit via the gate.
  • Please assemble outside the gate just prior to your race start time, but please do not enter the circuit until instructed to do so by the Gate Marshals.
  • Once your race has finished, please return to the same gate to exit the circuit. All access to the circuit itself is via this single point.
  • Timing chips will be removed at the gate prior to exiting the circuit. The marshal(s) and or parents can remove the timing chips, just please make sure that they are returned.
  • Podium presentations will be held at the approx. times stated, to allow for post-race gear checks and results to be prepared. Medals will be presented to the first 3 riders in each race. There will be separate podiums for Female & Open. There are prizes for every rider.

Code of Conduct

  • Any issues or complaints regarding the event or the results must be emailed to the event organiser (contact details / email are in this document and displayed on the BC website)
  • Please do not approach the commissaires or the lap scoring/timing team, please remember before any claim is raised, we are all volunteers who are giving up time to host a race for your children.
  • Parents and helpers are permitted access to the viewing areas of the track, subject to gate marshal instructions. They are expected to behave responsibly and must not encroach into unpermitted areas of the track or coach riders from the sidelines during the event. If there are any medical incidents, then please let the qualified event team deal with it, unless consulted.
  • We expect all riders and guardians to encourage all riders who are racing and be supportive of all, for some this may be their first ever race experience. A happy and encouraged rider will develop and improve if they are enjoying their cycling. Remember, it is their experience and not yours.
  • We hope everyone enjoys the competition and thrives within the positive atmosphere.
