STO!
Questions?
Why are stos cool
Open: Anyone can invest in stock. The limiter here will be the issuer programming the security token. If the issuer issues the token on a decentralized exchange it will be truly open. Then you will certainly be able to invest in the stock as long as you have other cryptocurrencies which can be used on the decentralized exchange.
Decentralized: Skipping stock exchanges in favor of decentralized exchanges
Borderless: Stock issued in north korea or any other country can be bought anywhere.
somewhat Censorship-resistant: Ownership cannot be censored and if traded on a decentralized exchange trade of the stock cannot be cencored unless the issuer has made a “corruptable” coin with an off-switch or stops considering the token worthy of ownership and dividents
relatively Neutral: Unless the issuer wants to mess with it? Depends on what ownership rules the issuer has programmed into the stock.
LIQUID AS FUCK
I praksis
But maybe there is a middle ground?Imagine if Tesla was taken private and then tokenized their equity. The management team would reduce their exposure to the quarter-by-quarter volatility that is present in the current stock market structure, while also having the freedom to structure liquidity in interesting ways. I could see a situation where the token structure allowed for employee liquidity, yet incentivized long-term holding of the company’s token through various reward structures. The company would also be able to provide more transparency if they implemented technology like zero-knowledge proofs.
