• Drop and pick up students at the East lot, on Hill, or pull through the lot in the front of the school.
• Buses park on the curb of Hill and in the west lot. School police will often ask you to move and it is very congested.

Attendance Matters

Arrive at Start Time = Late!

On Monday the tardy bell rings at 9:45 a.m.

On Tuesday thru Friday the tardy bell rings at 8:30 a.m.

What that means: Students are to be in class and in their seats, ready to learn, at the start time.

​

Word of advice if your student is not on time your student is late!

Arriving 10-15 minutes early will help your student to be on time.

Cajon offers programs such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) program– which is broken up into the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for 9 & 10 grade students & the Diploma Programme (DP) for 11 & 12 grade students –and the AVID ** program (Advancement Via Individual Determination) ; and CTE Pathway courses –all programs equip students with challenging, college-ready courses to help them succeed after high school.

WHAT IS “DP” UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF IB?

11th & 12th Grade

The curriculum is made up of the DP core and six subject groups.

Made up of the three required components, the DP core aims to broaden students’ educational experience and challenge them to apply their knowledge and skills.

• Students test in 6 different subject groups.
• Passing scores with assessments will earn students college credit (college credit depends on each university).

Students will take some subjects at higher level (HL) and some at standard level (SL).

WHAT IS “MYP”UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF IB?

9th and 10th Grade

The MYP aims to develop students who are:

• Active learners
• Internationally minded
• Able to empathize with others
• Have the intellect and skills to pursue lives of purpose and meaning.

As part of the IB continuum, it offers students opportunities to:

• develop their potential
• take appropriate risks
• reflect on, and develop, a strong sense of personal identity.

Earning College Credit

IB Courses and exam

• Many colleges also accept a 3, but credit awarded may vary based on the subject. Students may earn credit for IB courses, but the amount of credit also varies.
• Some colleges only award college credit to students who hold a full IB diploma, while others may award credit for individual exams.

AP Exams

• AP Exams - a score of 3 or higher out of 5 could earn students college credit.
• All exams are administered in May.
• This year Cajon will offer the following: Spanish Language & Culture; English Literature & Composition; English Language & Composition

AVID

Cajon offers programs such as the AVID Program. The purpose of the program is to prepare students for college eligibility and success.

To address this goal, AVID has developed the AVID Elective course. For one period a day, students receive the additional academic, social, and emotional support that will help them succeed in Cajon's most rigorous courses. Students who have the desire to go to college and the willingness to work hard are encouraged to enroll.

• Valley Now - FREE classes through San Bernardino Valley College. Courses are virtual and/or in person at various sites within the San Bernardino School District. Students earn college and high school credits.

Transferable Courses

• Articulation -The majority of our pathway classes have at least one class that is articulated. Students need to maintain a B average or higher and pass the final exam with a B or better to get the articulation credit. Our current articulations are with SBVC, RCC, and Chaffey.
