AIM

I will be able to use a dichotomous key to determine the candy’s scientific name

KEY IDEAS

· A dichotomous key is a step-by-step tool used for identifying organisms based on a series of choices between characteristics.

KEY IDEAS

· Species names are binominal (consist of two words). The first word is the generic name.

·

The second word has been called specific name.

KEY IDEAS

· Both words together are the species name. The scientific names are written as 2 words. This is called binomial nomenclature.

KEY IDEAS

· Dichotomous keys always give two choices in each step. By going from one set of steps to another, the name of the organism or its classification group is determined.
