COGGS is dedicated to developing and maintaining world-class mountain biking opportunities for all in the Twin Ports.

Vision

COGGS is a leading mountain biking advocacy organization committed to sustainable trail development, equitable trail access across the Twin Ports, and to developing a welcoming outdoor recreational culture by promoting opportunities, education, programming, partnerships, and healthy outdoor fun.

2023 Duluth Enduro Series

Enduro Committee: Dustin Voorhees, Tom Miller, Lindsey Lee & Nolan Schmidt

  • Held 7 races over 6 different trail systems throughout Duluth
  • Had food and beer sponsors for almost every race
  • Held the second Femme, Trans, Women, Non-Binary only enduro at Lester Park where 100+ folks came out to race/ride/ support again!
  • Hosted a 5 stage weekend enduro
  • New timing system was a big hit, more participants, stages and more fun!

Race Across Duluth!

  • COGGS held the inaugural Race Across Duluth (RAD) on Sept. 9th with sold out registration (150)!
  • Event was a huge success with positive feedback all around! “Best race in the State!!”
  • Over $8500 was raised for COGGS and the trails!
  • Thank you to all of our RAD sponsors, we can’t wait to do it again next year!

OuterBike 2023

  • Duluth/Spirit Mountain hosted Outerbike this past August 25th-27th
  • Industry leaders from across the country had nothing but praise for the Duluth Trails and community. And we got to ride fancy bikes!
  • Solid participation and good times were had!

  • Refreshed the jumpline on Amity East
  • Replaced many bridges on Amity East and West
  • Lots of tuning on Hawk Ridge
  • Catch berm on the large rock slab in Parts Vermillion
  • Built a big ol’ drop in Parts Vermillion

  • Winter flood clean-up
  • Whoops re-route and Marshall St pavers:
  • An ambitious skinny project in the Blowdown; will have >200’ of skinnies with some great progressions.
  • Completion of Pines reroute to provide a true beginner and adaptive accessible riding experience.

Piedmont/Brewer/Keene

  • Removed large rock from Snaggletooth that slid on to the trail in the spring.
  • Improved transitions on DM to hold speed and added a wooden drop.
  • Refreshed a few jumps on Quarry, Lower Burner and Foxx Rocks.
  • Work on Lollygagger including: opening drains, enhancing rollers, improving berms, and adding a few side hits.

  • Three bridges repaired by replacing rotting boards
  • New signage was added at the trail entry points
  • Drainage improved to decrease standing water
  • COGGS mower was used out and back on the trail to widen the trail by cutting back brush and vegetation

  • Removed several 'kinky' bridges from Upper Cathedral
  • Big log ride feature
  • Added bigger/softer/'case-ier' landing zones on Porcupine Pass
