WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US:

  • To be here on time and prepared, giving 100% to our students.
  • Keep you informed regularly- notes, phone calls, newsletters, Parent Square messages, progress reports, and report cards.
  • Treat all students and adults with respect.
  • Recognize students for academic achievement and positive behavior in the classroom and school.
  • Put students first in our decision making.
  • Have high academic and behavioral expectations for all students.

TITLE I WHAT IS IT?

  • Federal program to provide money to schools to help students reach state standards in reading, writing, and math.
  • GES has a school wide Title I program, which enables us to use our program to support all students.

WHO ARE THE TITLE I STAFF?

One licensed teacher with a reading endorsement- Ann O’Connor

Three full day assistants- Mrs. Enserink, Mrs. R. Jones, and Mrs. Korba

One half day assistant- Mrs. Rummel

WHAT SERVICES DO WE PROVIDE?

  • School wide reading assessments three times per year.
  • Additional instruction in reading.
  • Classroom support for reading and math.
  • Progress monitoring for specific students to help plan for instruction.
  • “Flooding” for kindergarten, first, and second grades to create small reading groups.

HOW DOES THIS AFFECT MY STUDENT?

  • All students benefit from our school wide program.
  • Students benefit from direct instruction that is provided through small reading groups, intervention, and classroom support.
  • We are also able to purchase additional curriculum and technology to support student learning with Title IA funds.

WAYS TO BE INVOLVED

  • Site Council – Meets on third Tuesday of the month,

after school at 3:45 pm. Site Council looks at staff training

needs, curriculum, campus projects and reviews Title I

program. To join, come to our meeting on Tuesday, September 19.

  • Junior Bobcat Club – Meets on the second Monday

of the month after school at 3:45 pm. The JBC raises

money to enhance the educational experience at GES.

They support staff in projects, parties and special activities.

Contact Nikki Kinney or Nikki Sprague at the school if you

are interested in helping.

  • Please attend as many events as possible that are hosted on

our campus. Studies show that parents that are involved in their

child’s education: graduate from high school at higher rates, get

better grades, are better behaved and have positive attitudes.

HOW WILL I KNOW HOW MY CHILD IS DOING OR IF I HAVE CONCERNS?

  • Contact your child’s teacher
  • Check homework folder and planner each night
  • Attend parent conferences
  • Newsletters and notes
  • Report Cards
  • Volunteer in your child’s class

ARRIVAL TIME

Please drop your child off between 7:30 and 8:00 A.M. Your child should wait in the car for an adult to prompt them to exit the car. Please pull to the front of the line where the adults on duty are standing and be aware of the crosswalk.

Our school day begins at 8:05 A.M. with morning music and announcements.

Breakfast is free to all students.

Please show your child you value their education by getting the school on time and by leaving them in class until dismissal time.

DISMISSAL��

-Children go to three places after school:

-Parent pick up line- An adult will bring your child to your car. Please be cautious as you move through our pickup line.

-Bus ride home

-Play Shed- After school sports

Students are released at 3:30 P.M.

Please contact the office before 2:00 if you need to change plans for your child.

CHOICES TO MAKE

We realize you may need to make a choice of which classroom to go to or you may need to divide and conquer.

When we are finished, please go right to the classroom that you choose. We are committed to being done by 7:30. Please leave your child on the playground and pick them up after meeting with the teacher
