The Rest of the Year - Expectations

  • In order to participate in the graduation ceremony, a student must:
    • Have successfully completed all necessary academic requirements
    • Not have been involved in inappropriate or unlawful behavior: which led to suspension before or during practice period

  • Thursday, May 18th: Seniors last day of instruction.
  • Monday, May 22nd: Graduation practice in the gymnasium from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Tuesday, May 23rd: Graduation practice in the gymnasium from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Wednesday, May 24th: Graduation practice in the gymnasium from 8:00 - 10:30 AM, Award Ceremony in the auditorium from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Prom

  • Viva Las Vegas
  • Date: Friday, April 28th
  • Time: 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
  • Location: The Null Building at the Frederick Fairgrounds
    • Students must enter the fairgrounds from Monroe Avenue.
    • Students being dropped off will proceed to the front of the building, and then the vehicle will exit via Franklin Street.
    • Student parking will be directed where to park.

Prom

  • Tickets will be sold on Friday, April 21st; Monday, April 24th; Tuesday, April 25th; Wednesday, April 26th during all lunch shifts for $40.
  • Tickets will be sold Thursday, April 27th for an increased price of $50.
  • The prom contract must be completed to purchase a ticket. Contracts are available in the media center.
    • Students must pay for all obligations before purchasing a ticket.
    • Students must attend school and be in all classes on Friday, April 28th. This is an 2 hour early dismissal day.

Graduation Gowns

  • Ordering online is still available. https://highschool.herffjones.com/secom/home
  • Current total online price with shipping and tax is $64.61.
  • If you haven’t ordered online, we collected everyone’s measurements, a gown will be available for pick-up. However, you will need to pay $70 cash to Herff Jones during pickup.
  • Pick up will take place on Wednesday, May 10th during all lunch shifts in the cafeteria.

Senior Video - ABSOLUTE Deadline:

Monday, May 1st

  • Please submit no more than 3 photos to be included in the senior video.
  • Please label the photos with the name of the student and age.
  • Submit photos to 2023ths@gmail.com.
  • You will receive a confirmation email that your photos were received. If you do not receive a confirmation in 7 days, please check the email address and resubmit.

Titan Scholar - ABSOLUTE Deadline:

Wednesday, May 10th

  • Level 1 – Titan Scholars - Three or more AP, FCC, or Microsoft Certification Exams taken or college courses completed with a minimum final grade of “C” in the course.
  • Level 2 – Titan Advanced Scholars - Six or more AP, FCC, or Microsoft Certification Exams taken or college courses completed with a final grade of “C” in the course.
  • Complete this form to be eligible to receive a Titan Scholar award.

Graduation Ceremony

  • Thursday, May 25th at 9:30 AM Knott Arena at the PNC Sports Complex on the Campus of Mount Saint Mary’s University
  • Graduates need to arrive by 8:30 AM
    • Traffic may be heavy
  • Gates open for guests at 8:30 AM
  • Accessibility seating will be available, more details on a later slide.

Graduation Tickets

  • 6 tickets per graduates who are participating in the ceremony
  • Tickets will be given on the last day of graduation practice - Wednesday, May 24th.
  • Tickets will not be given until all obligations to THS are cleared.
  • Every person entering the arena needs a ticket (except graduates). Children 1 and older need a ticket.

Accessibility Seating - Deadline:

Wednesday, May 10th

  • If you require accessibility seating you must put in a request using this form.

  • All individuals attending the graduation ceremony, regardless of seat assignment, must have a graduation ticket.

Live Streaming

  • Due to the limited number of guests, each graduation will be professionally live streamed, so that friends, family and community members can view the ceremony in real time.
  • The recordings will also be available on the individual school and FCPS YouTube channels.
  • Links to each livestream will be provided prior to the event.

Lifetouch Graduation Photos

  • A panoramic photo will be taken during graduation practice on Wednesday, May 24th.
    • Ordering can be done online or with the form that will be handed out that day.
  • Photos will be taken of the graduate walking across the stage during the ceremony.
    • Photos can be ordered at https://events.lifetouch.com/.

Dress Code

  • NO Chewing Gum, NO decorating graduation cap, and jewelry must be appropriate and not covering graduation gown. Stoles, honor cords and medals bestowed by FCPS or the State of Maryland may be worn during graduation ceremonies. Those bestowed by outside (non-FCPS) organizations or purchased by families may not be worn during graduation ceremonies.
  • Long dress pants dark (preferably black) - NO jeans, corduroys, etc.
  • If wearing pants, dark shoes and socks no sneakers, or work boots
  • White shirt and dark tie
  • If wearing a dress or skirt preferably one that will not show under the gown. If longer clothing is to be worn it should be dark or neutral.
  • If wearing a dress or skirt, dress shoes or sandals must be a neutral color - white, silver, tan, or black (no bright colors).

Things to Remember for Graduation Day

  • The graduation ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes.
  • Diplomas will be handed out after the ceremony in the field house.
  • Graduates will enter the arena through the field house.
  • Guests will enter the arena from both sets of main doors.
  • Guests with accessibility seats will enter from the bottom set of main doors.
  • You may NOT bring anything that will obstruct anyone's point of view including: airhorns, balloons, or signs. They will be TURNED AWAY at the door.
  • You must have a ticket to enter the arena.
