Internship Course Goal

To provide Junior and Senior students with the opportunity to meaningfully explore a career and collaborate with a business in their chosen field, enhancing their resumes and expanding their career prospects

Google Classroom Reminders

  • Turn in your hours and check-ins on a monthly basis
  • Check for Stream Posts and Upcoming Assignments on a weekly basis

Course Meeting Times

  • Internships can be completed after school, on weekends or during a scheduled internship class period.

Student Expectations

Success in this course is dependent upon the following:

  • Create a schedule and goal/project plan at the beginning of the semester.
  • Follow through on periodic check-ins with your employer to discuss your progress.
  • Treat your internship like you would a professional job
  • Ask questions when you aren’t sure
  • Communicate and collaborate!

Get hired

  • Find an employer on your own or ask Ms. Kelly for support and recommendations
  • Complete a short internship prep course prior to starting your first day.

Grading

  • Preparation & Planning:

15% of the overall grade

  • Check-ins:

30% of the overall grade

  • Completing the Hours:

45% of the overall grade

  • Final Reflection

10% of the overall grade

Internship Rules

  • Students must report absences to both their internship supervisor and Ms. Kelly in advance
  • As the student, it is your responsibility to have reliable transportation or to work with the school for an alternative solution
  • Must complete all signature forms prior to starting first day.
  • Student must present themselves in a professional manner in line with the industry standards, including attire and attitude.
  • Student must read internship handbook for full list of policies and procedures
