Why is clean water important?

• There is a lot of people living in the country. And everyone needs clean water to survive.
• However, pollution and people wasting water makes problems worst.
• Water comes from rivers, reservoirs and dams.
• Clean water is also used to produce good crops on farms.

How can we protect our water and keep it clean?

• By keeping the rivers free of pollution and waste, by improving the way we get rid of rubbish and toxic chemicals from factories.
• Don’t pour chemicals, oils, paints or toxic substances down the drain, toilet or basin. There are other ways of getting rig of it.

How can be save water?

1. Place buckets under leaking taps.
2. Never leave taps open.
3. Shower instead of baths.
4. If you have a flushing toilet, put something in the tank, like a brick or bottle, so that less water can be used to flush the next time.
5. Use leftover bath water to flush the toilet.
6. Keep a bottle of drinking water in the fridge instead of opening the tap all the time.
7. Don’t let the water run while brushing your teeth, washing you face, or washing your hands.
8. Contact the council if there is a burst pipe or overflowing drains.
