Teacher recommendations will be populated automatically into Skyward. Please take these teacher recommendations seriously and consider them with great thought.

FEBRUARY 18-27: Teachers meet with students and enter core course recommendations in Skyward.

MARCH 2-20: Counselor Nest presentations; Students select elective courses (and alternate choices). Submit Petition to Change Teacher Recommendation form. NO CHANGES TO TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS AFTER MARCH 20TH.

MARCH 30 - MAY 1: Administration builds the master schedule in Skyward.

MAY 4 - MAY 8: Rising Seniors participate in Arena Scheduling (more information to come).

MAY 11 - May 29: Counselors resolve schedule conflicts in Skyward.

JUNE 6-26: Schedules are viewable to students in Skyward for CV10-12. Final window to request a schedule change (CV10-12; only for level down requests, dropping an elective, adding an elective - no other change requests accepted). Changes are not guaranteed. The final schedule change request form will be shared with students through Schoology on June 6.

JUNE 26: Schedule change requests will not be accepted after 5:00 p.m.

  • Students in grade 9-11 must take a minimum of 6.5 credits each year.
  • Students in grade 12 must take a minimum of 4.0 credits.
  • Middle School students who successfully complete a Math course of Algebra I or beyond or a World Language course of Level I or beyond will receive a high school credit for that course. This course will count toward the 23.5-credit graduation requirements and will appear on the student’s transcript. The course does NOT count toward GPA or class rank.

College Courses…in High School!

College in the High School

  • College classes taught by CV teachers at CVHS; opportunity to earn 1.0 HS credit and 3.0 college credits.

  • Follow HACC’s academic schedule (semester courses)

  • HACC - $83.50 per credit (3 credit courses) plus any materials you might need; Harrisburg University - $100 per credit (3 credit courses)

  • Students must register & pay the college’s tuition to participate in the course.

Dual Enrollment

  • College courses are taken at the college: must provide your own transportation

  • Follow college’s academic schedule (semester courses)

  • HACC - $175.00 per credit (most are 3 credit courses) plus any materials you might need. Prices vary per college.

  • Dual Enrollment Guidelines

  • Students must obtain a CVHS Dual Enrollment Approval Form and schedule a meeting with their School Counselor before submitting the formal request.

AP Courses at CVHS

  • AP Courses are college-level courses that award high school credit.
  • AP Courses are more rigorous than other academic classes and carry a 1.13 weight added to the GPA.
  • Summer work is required for most AP Courses.
  • AP courses have a culminating test given in May. Depending on the score earned on the AP exam and the attending college, students may earn college credit.
    • Utilize College Board’s AP Credit Policy Search Tool to find colleges that offer credit or placement for AP Scores
  • Are you willing to spend extra time and effort to earn college credit in a high school course?
  • Are you willing to make a firm commitment to persevere in an AP course by devoting the time and utilizing provided resources for success?

Unique Scheduling Opportunity for Juniors & Seniors

Late Arrival & Early Release

  • If interested, these courses must be added by students in Skyward during the elective course selection timeline.
  • Must meet minimum credit requirements on schedule
    • Juniors: 6.5 credits
    • Seniors: 4.0 credits, including ALL remaining graduation requirements
  • Not guaranteed and is based on availability of your courses.
  • Must have consistent transportation.
  • Can not be in the building when you are scheduled for LA or ER.

Note:

  • Your junior and senior year of high school is the beginning of your transition to life after high school. Continue to challenge yourself to prepare for the rigor of college academics, your dream job, or military aspirations.
  • While “off campus” opportunities are a nice luxury, it should not take priority over other meaningful course selections/scheduling opportunities.

High School Student Athletes

  • The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulates college athletes in three different divisions: Division I, Division II, Division III.
    • Division I and Division II colleges can offer students athletic scholarships, but Division III colleges cannot.
  • All NCAA and PIAA participants must take and pass a minimum of 4.0 high school credits to maintain eligibility during the season in which you are playing your sport.
  • Students must qualify to play in D1 and D2 sports
  • Students must register with Eligibility Center by the end of junior year at www.eligibilitycenter.org

**Course Drop/Withdraw Changes for 2026-2027**

Year-Long Courses:

  • The midpoint of the 1st marking period is the final day to withdraw from a course without appearing on a student’s academic transcript.
  • From the midpoint of the 1st marking period to the end of the 1st marking period, a “WP” or “WF” will appear on a student’s transcript for any dropped courses, depending if a student is passing or failing the course at the time of withdrawal.
  • The end of the 1st marking period is the final day to withdraw from a course with the option of “WP.” After the 1st marking period, all course withdrawals will be “WF,” regardless if a student is passing or not.

Semester Courses:

  • The midpoint of the 1st/3rd marking period is the final day to withdraw from a course without appearing on a student’s academic transcript.
  • From the midpoint of the 1st/3rd marking period to the end of the 1st/3rd marking period, a “WP” or “WF” will appear on a student’s transcript for any dropped courses.
  • After the 1st/3rd marking period, all course withdrawals will be “WF,” regardless if a student is passing or not.

WP – Withdraw Passing�The student withdrew from the course after the designated add/drop period while earning a passing grade at the time of withdrawal. No credit earned. Grade not calculated in GPA.
