Combined Science (Trilogy)
Overview
Combined Science (Trilogy) is a dual-award course where students study Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, leading to two GCSE qualifications. This route provides a comprehensive and balanced scientific education, covering the fundamental principles that govern the world around us. Through a mix of core theory and required practical investigations, students develop essential skills in data analysis, evaluation, and scientific enquiry. It is the standard pathway for most students, designed to build a strong foundation of knowledge while keeping a wide range of future options open.

How is it assessed?
Exam board AQA
There will be six exams at the end of Year 11 (two Biology, two Chemistry and two Physics). Students will carry out set required practicals throughout the GCSE course and their knowledge of these will be assessed in the final exams (worth 15%).
Paper 1 and Paper 2 for each of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
All papers will include multiple choice, structured, closed short answer and open response questions.

Future Possibilities?
A-level Sciences – Triple Science provides the depth and academic rigour needed to succeed in A-level Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. However, you can still do A-level science based subjects after studying Combined Science.
Nursing and Midwifery: Providing direct patient care.
Engineering – Develops the physics and problem-solving skills needed to design, build, and improve real-world systems and technologies.
Environmental & Climate Science – Applies biology, chemistry, and physics to understanding and protecting the natural world.
Technology & Data Science – Builds analytical and logical thinking used in computing, artificial intelligence, and data-driven careers.
Forensic Science – Uses scientific techniques to analyse evidence and support criminal investigations.
