Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is a Peroxide Former B and requires management as a time-sensitive chemical (TSC). THF has been identified as a component of many PVC cements, primers, and cleaners. Any mixture that is >20% TSC requires management and peroxide testing before waste requisitioning.

How to identify which PVC products are TSC:

• Check SDS for the product number
• Section 3 lists the composition, if THF is >20% of the mixture it will be time sensitive

What to do if you have PVC products that are TSCs:

• Ensure that you are on a WPC activity that includes the hazard “Working with TSCs”
• Test any containers and reach out to chemsafety@lbl.gov with any questions

TSC PVC cements, primers, and cleaners require extra management -substitute with non-TSC products when possible
