• Understand the importance of arranging a classroom to improve the learning and engagement of both boys and girls

•Propose ways to make their own classroom set ups more child-centred, inclusive and gender-responsive

Session 13: Setting Up My Classroom

  • Activity 1 deliberately uses a bad example of a classroom map. (See Resources 13 b&c) – the idea being that first participants reflect on how it is currently organized and where the students sit, and start to reflect on how to improve it.
  • In Activity 2 They get to draw their own classroom map as it is now using the same legend or key.
  • Participants then post their map on the wall…. And use resource 13a to go go around look at the maps and make notes on common things they observe….
  • There is then a guided discussion about some of the key issues using the questions in activity 2, point 7 and guidance resource 13d.
  • Ptps are then for ideas on how to improve their maps….. Using the questions in point 8and resource 13 a to guide the discussion
