The purple folder will contain notes to keep at home as well as papers that need to be returned to school. Any homework that needs to be completed will go in the “Return to School” side, and any papers that can be left at home will be in the “Leave at Home” side. The red folder will be used daily and will contain notes and papers that can help with homework. Please DO NOT remove any papers from the red folder. I will periodically have students clean this folder out in class when we finish a unit. Homework and important reminders will be recorded in the agenda. Please check it every evening.

Always send in a handwritten note for a dismissal change. If you must make a dismissal change during the school day, please contact the school office. Car riders and walkers are dismissed in the front of the school’s main office.

I believe that the parent-child-teacher connection is integral to success in school. I am here to support you and your child and will always be their advocate! I hope you let me know if you have any concerns about home or school life. Your child’s happiness and overall well being are priorities to

me during their time in 4th

grade. I want them to feel

safe and loved within the

walls of our room and in our

entire school!

I understand and care about the value of family and extracurricular activity time. With this said, I do not give daily homework. There will be some exceptions (make up work, study for an upcoming test, etc.), but I promise it will not be overwhelming. Students are required to complete 16 units of Lexia each week. There will be chances during the week to complete this in class. They can also bring their Ipads home to work on this at any time. Any unfinished work or study guides will be in your student’s purple folder in the return to school side. With this said, please check your child’s agenda nightly for important reminders.

Missing/Incomplete Assignments:

Missing and incomplete assignments (this includes Lexia units) may result in missing the movie reward for that month. Students/Parents will be notified of missing items that may affect their participation.

District policy allows students to bring in pre-packaged treats with nutrition labels.

This is our Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday schedule. Times are adjusted on our Wednesday schedule due to early release. Dismissal time is 2:30 on Wednesdays.

Parents are able to check grades using TeacherEase. Parents will need to obtain a password and login ID. Please contact our front office if you need a password or ID for monitoring your child’s grades.

Individual behavior: Wingate’s Core Values are: We are Respectful, We are Responsible, We are Accepting, We are Safe. In an effort to help encourage these Core Values, we will be using a weekly behavior log. Each day your child has the opportunity to earn a ticket by keeping a minimum of 2 feathers for the day. At the end of the week I will draw tickets and students will get to choose a reward from the prize bin. Their behavior logs can be found in the red folders and can be viewed daily. For further information, a handout explaining this behavior system will be going home this week.Classroom Reward System: In addition to encouraging individual behavior, I also feel that it is important to reward the class as a whole when they are doing something positive. Once the class has earned the agreed upon amount of points, we will have a class reward!

Due to our late lunch (12:45), we have decided to implement a daily snack time. Your child is permitted to bring in a healthy snack (no drinks except for water) that should take no longer than a few minutes to eat. This should help keep their brains and bodies working at their best!
