Creative Doodles
Warm Ups
Objective: Encourage students to express creativity through doodling.
Materials: any paper/notebook and a pencil
Note: This exercise is designed to be a quiet, reflective, & creative activity. It provides students with the freedom to express themselves without the pressure of creating a "perfect" artwork.
Begin by explaining that today, students will engage in a quiet and creative exercise called "Creative Doodle." Project or write the chosen doodle prompt on the board. Read the prompt aloud to the class. Instruct students to silently doodle whatever comes to their minds based on the given prompt. Set a 5 minute timer. Emphasize that there are no right or wrong answers – it's all about personal expression. After the doodling session, ask students to take a moment to quietly reflect on their creations. Optional Sharing: Allow a couple of students who want to share their doodles to do so. Alternatively, encourage pair sharing or small group sharing for those who are comfortable. Conclude the exercise by expressing appreciation for everyone's creativity. Let students know they can always come back to their doodles later if they wish to add more details or colors.
