By the end of this assignment, you will have created a primary source during these history-making times!

Follow the prompts (add a date each time you work on a slide!). Each day will be something different, like:

  1. You should add new entries for your categories each week until the end of the school year. There are many different types of slides for you to move through. Scroll through the slideshow to familiarize yourself with your options. Be sure to add the date each time you fill in a new slide.

  • You will journal and choose at least one more of the following ways to document this time
    1. Original art (you create) related to your life and your community in this moment. This could be a drawing or painting, a poem (see example below), or any other sort of art you like to create.
    2. Photos, video, and/or audio recordings
    3. Tracking and collecting headlines and news stories, tracking and collecting maps, graphs, and other data until the end of school

  • Collect two oral histories (interview someone!)

  • Create an interactive map (instructions to come later)

Example: A Poem

Kitty O’Meara- Retired Wisconsin Teacher 2020

And people stayed at home

And read books

And listened

And they rested

And did exercises

And made art and played

And learned new ways of being

And stopped and listened

More deeply

Someone meditated, someone prayed

Someone met their shadow

And people began to think differently

And people healed.

And in the absence of people who

Lived in ignorant ways

Dangerous, meaningless and heartless,

The earth also began to heal

And when the danger ended and

People found themselves

They grieved for the dead

And made new choices

And dreamed of new visions

And created new ways of living

And completely healed the earth

Just as they were healed.
