Training from Rewiring America

  • 4 weekly 90-minute online sessions plus breakouts w/ “guides”
    • 25-30% on air source heat pumps
    • Energy audits, weatherization, insulation, air sealing
    • Solar, water heating, induction stoves
    • electrical service & panel issues
  • Certification requires capstone project
  • ~1000 trainees nationally
    • ~6 in NH, half in Monadnock region

Important Consumer Issues

  • Perception that heat pumps are not efficient/sufficient in our climate
    • Tradition-bound HVAC companies may help to perpetuate this story
  • Prevalence of 100A electrical service
    • Complicates but may not preclude electrification
  • Federal and state incentive programs can seem complicated
    • E.g. specific requirements with credits for EVs and heat pump
    • Not all vendors willing to provide assistance

  • Efficiency means low operating costs and pollution reduction
  • Performance and comfort benefits
    • e.g. air conditioning w/heat pumps
