This calendar was designed to inform staff of the monthly happenings in Guidance Counseling & SEL.

A & B Weeks will alternate between students attending the library & counseling for various lessons.

Week A: Library (K-2) Guidance (3-5)

Week B: Library (3-5) Guidance (K-2)

CLASSROOM TEACHERS: Character Strong will be utilized three days a week, but try to be intentional in incorporating the “3 Signature Practices’ daily (I.E. Morning/Afternoon Circles, Mindful Minute, Brain Breaks, Turn and Talk, etc. and Optimistic Closure.) Ms. Hardy will provide you with resources to help facilitate SEL activities in your classroom.

Make-ups for Guidance & SEL Lessos will be 40 minutes and Ms. Hardy will make individual arrangements with teacher if class must be rescheduled.

Please take your students to the bathroom prior to attending class in order to reduce them leaving the classroom during instruction. Thank you! :)

Positive social and emotional development is important. This development influences a child’s self-confidence, empathy, the ability to develop meaningful and lasting friendships and partnerships, and a sense of importance and value to those around him/her. Children’s social and emotional development also influences all other areas of development.

October SEL Focus includes:

  • Pre-K - 1st Gr.: Responsible Decision Making, Self-Management, Self-Awareness & Social Awareness.
  • 2nd & 3rd: Relationship Skills, Responsible Decision Making & Social Awareness.

This scope and sequence is structured for ~15 mins lessons, taught 3 times weekly during homeroom time.

In the month of October we will focus on Responsibility as we celebrate various weeks that are directly related to this core value. We will also discuss making healthy personal choices for our bodies and mental health.

Ms. Hardy will be facilitating classroom guidance lessons in all grades focused on Bullying Awareness & Prevention, Drug Prevention, Personal Space, Gossip & Rumor and Making Healthy Choices.
