Sione brought 4 mandarins to school. His brother had 3 mandarins in his lunchbox and his sister had 6 mandarins. How many mandarins did Sione’s Mum buy?

  1. I looked for numbers to make tidy tens.
  2. 4 + 3 + 6 =
  3. I know that 6 + 4 = 10, so 10 + 3 = 13
