Use a ¾ inch electrical conduit pipe to raise the sprinkler. Push the pipe into the ground. Push a sprinkler with a spike into the pipe.

For non-stressed posts, dig the hole for the post 2 feet in the ground. Wrap bottom with ice shield tar paper so it will never rot, tamp dirt around post a little at a time.
