Why I Chose Collage

I chose collage because I love to do art and I decided to do something new for my PYPx so I chose to do collage.

Background Knowledge

What Is Collage?

Collage is a piece of art made by sticking various different materials, such as photographs and pieces of paper or fabric, on to a backing/background.

Types Of Collage

  • Decoupage

Art of decorating objects with paper cut outs and sticking them onto a backing

  • Photomontage

Multiple photographs are cut up and combined to form one new image

  • Assemblage

Assembling everyday objects found by the artists and turning them into art

When was collage first made

Collage was first invented by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, who began to stick newspaper cuttings and other materials onto their canvases in 1912.

Steps To Make Collage

  1. collect unused paper, photographs or fabric
  2. prepare glue and pencil(s)
  3. sketch your drawing
  4. cover some parts with glue
  5. rip the unused paper/photograph(s)/fabric and stick them onto the paper

Personal comment

PYPx is very hard and stressful for me but I enjoyed it. I

learned a lot of new things during our PYPx, I get to gain more confidence and make more friends from lower levels.
