This month, Mater Dei Key Club is participating in UNICEF’s annual event, Trick-Or-Treat for UNICEF.

Here is a little history on Trick-Or-Treat for UNICEF from the UNICEF website:

“Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF began 69 years ago as a way to help kids still affected by World War II. Since then, millions of children across the United States have gone door to door on Halloween with UNICEF collection boxes, calling out, "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF!" The annual tradition of Kids Helping Kids® — involving donations big and small — has helped to raise more than $180 million since 1950.”

Just because we can’t fundraise in person this year, doesn’t mean we have to stop! UNICEF has provided us with the opportunity to fundraise virtually. You can donate directly to our virtual collection box. For every $1 donated, 10 coins are added to our collection box. You can also watch videos or complete activities to help our club earn coins.

The coins are used to purchase supplies to help a child in need. The Kiwanis-Key Club Family specifically focuses on maternal and neonatal tetanus. The coins you help us earn go toward the purchase and distribution of the tetanus vaccine, tetanus prevention, and tetanus treatment transportation.

You don’t need to complete all of the tasks to make a difference! Every ounce of effort counts. Thank you so much for taking the time to help children around the world.

Last, don’t forget to spread the word! You do not have to be in Key Club or be a part of Mater Dei in order to contribute. Please make sure to tell your friends and family.
