  • The recent revision of FP104: Awarding Promotion, Tenure, and Multi-year Appointments prompted a revision of FP102, since FP102 did not account for the new Teaching track.
  • The previous policy lacked clear and consistent workload expectations across faculty tracks, leading to confusion and uneven practice across colleges and programs.
  • It did not formally define or compensate non-teaching contributions—such as thought leadership, service, and administrative responsibilities—creating inequities in workload planning.
  • The revision aligns FP 102 with updates in FP 104, including the formal addition of the Teaching Track and codifying Thought Leadership load for Professional Practice faculty.

Overload defined as exceeding 9 SH/15 QH per term; can be compensated or carried forward

Summer contract improvements:

Enhanced guidance on eligible duties, workload thresholds, and compensation

Efficiency: The new planning tool supports effective collaboration between faculty and supervisors.

  • Socialization planned for Fall 2025 across Connection Faculty Association, Faculty Senate, and College meetings.
  • Development of a table to translate service activity to workload, similar to the thought leadership activity to workload table currently in the policy - Fall 2025
  • Approval timeline:
    • FPSCC: November
    • Faculty Senate: November
    • Faculty Association: December —> planning to convene a meeting to vote
    • Board of Trustees: December
  • If approved, the revised policy will guide workload planning for AY2026–27 beginning in January 2026.
  • Implementation plan to be released by December 2025.
