THE GOOD THE BADAND THE BOLLING

An updated application for House Bolling by Homiesucc

2 of 30

INTRODUCTION AND CANON

House Bolling is a House of landed knights from the Stormlands. The House was created by either a bastard of House Durrandon or House Baratheon, Though House Durrandon is more likely, as the houses of cape wrath are described as ancient.

PROBLEMS WITH BOLLING’S TERRA

The largest problems with Bolling’s terra is the village is located at the basin of several hills. With the large amount of rain in the Stormlands, the village is at actual risk of flooding. There are no ditches to drain water, or dirt mounds to prevent water reaching the walls. The entirely wood village would rot away over time. Several yards are also at a Y level 2 or 3 below that of the outside, these yards used for farming would flood and destroy the crops incredibly frequently.

GOOD OF BOLLING’S TERRA

The completed Terra of Bolling’s forests and swamps so far are beautiful, and I would definitely want to continue them. The only changes I would want to make are significantly more flies around the swamps to show dragonflies and other insects, and a few dead stags around the forest floor to show how deadly the native bears are.

CHANGES TO BOLLING’S TERRA

So far, there are three major changes we want to make to the terra. The first is making the ravine next to the keep longer, and having a small bridge over it. The second is having the villages on raised ground. This is to provide extra defence without the absurdly high walls of the original Bolling, and to provide better drainage into the nearby swamp, while also making the village dryer. The third change is to make the biome of the forest into forest rather than jungle, while still using jungle for the green eastern island terrainset on rocks.

BOLLING GORGE EXPANSION

The red line is the proposed expansion, and will not be straight. The goal is to make a stream evolving into a gorge to give the lands more life.

HOUSE STYLE #1

The log houses of Bolling, designed by Guillaard, are designed to work at virtually any length, from simple houses to meeting halls with the same design.

The chimneys are spiked to prevent fire pits getting damp during the frequent rain of the Stormlands.

All houses have windows on the sides of the roof to let in air.

Even width houses have nets instead of chimneys.

Windows can be 1x1 or 2x1

These houses cannot be used on angles.

HOUSE STYLE #2

The wood houses of Bolling were designed to work at angles.

Houses can use both chimneys and nets

Windows can be 1x1 or 1x2

TRADE

SMALLFOLK

BUSINESSES

TAXATION

Some Bolling smallfolk choose to export furniture to nearby lands, and the local ports of Herston and Weeping Town.

Bolling has several logging camps to export wood across the seven kingdoms. The Rainwood is one of, if not the densest forest in Westeros.

House Bolling makes money not just from taxing the smallfolk, but also taxing trade in and out of Bolling lands.

FARMS

  1. The southern hamlet is being replaced by a farm. The hamlet is being moved north, closer to the keep. The reason for this being I feel it is too far from the keep or any other relevant buildings. Will be open for public application.
  2. The northern (or currently the only) farm will be removed and made open for public application with slightly changed terra, namely making the nearby hills less steep.
  3. A pear orchard will be added to the northern lands to fill a large amount of what would be empty forest. Suggested by a moderator.
