Land Acknowledgement Statement

The land our schools sit upon is known as Mni Sota Makoce, The Land where the Waters Reflect the Clouds.

This is the homeland of the Dakota people.

We recognize the many contributions of indigenous communities, including resilience in the face of injustice.

We will be healers and truth tellers on these grounds.

“Committee On Racial Equity”

  • Met May 14 to form a group
  • Move to make a permanent initiative of Site Council

“Committee On Racial Equity”

Identified 3 topic areas to begin work on over summer:

  1. Parent-facing resources
    1. Simple, accessible information for parents on school policies, where to get help, what resources are available them
  2. Incident response
    • Establish trusted, visible presence, develop response procedures to supplement school’s
  3. Culture/community engagement
    • Database of existing resources, including community and nearby schools. Affinity groups.

Volunteer leaders for each of these 3 groups have already been assigned. If you want to help, please email taylor.kellymurray@gmail.com to volunteer and we’ll sort you into a group.

District-Wide Parent Group: Building Power Together

We are a district-wide parent group focused on building collective power to advocate for smaller class sizes, increased support for families, expanded funding for Special Education, and better oversight of the district’s budget process.

The group began last year with parents—primarily from Northside schools—organizing around the urgent issue of oversized classrooms. Since then, we’ve partnered with TakeAction MN to grow into a broader coalition of parents from across the district.

We’re laying the groundwork now to ensure our voices are heard in upcoming budget decisions and to build long-term strategy and influence across many fronts.

Recent Win:We showed up with strength and numbers at the MFT bargaining session, making our voices heard on class sizes and special education support.

How to Get Involved:

  • Take the parent pledge
  • Join us at monthly meetings to stay engaged
  • Be a participating member and help out as needed
  • Let Allison know if you're interested in attending an event

Take the pledge!
