BBJH Mission Statement
BBJH exists as a community for all students to learn, grow, and thrive today and in the future.
Learning Target: We will learn to understand the term “Character”.
Learning Activities:
What is Character?
Think for 30 seconds about the following quote:
Write down what this quote means to you.
“Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character.” |
What is Character?
Think for another 30 seconds about this quote:
Write down what this quote means to you.
“One can easily judge the character of a person by the way they treat people who can do nothing for them.” |
Watch the video about Sara Tucholsky
As you watch, take “mental notes” about the examples of “Character” evident in Sara and the other players’ actions.
Share with your partner/group ways sara and the other players showed Character.
On the board, Make a list of the ways they showed character.
Think and share
Take one minute to think about what Sara’s Coach says in the quote below.
Is having character simply about doing the right thing at the right time?
Talk as a class about the quote and this question.
“It is a great moment when someone has character; to step up and do the right thing at the right time.” |
Share
In the video we learn that the girls that helped sara lost the game 4-2. Their team would have won if they had not have helped sara. They helped sara, even though she could do nothing for them. Discuss with your partner about a time when you did something for another person, even when that person could do nothing for you in return. (Each partner should get about 30 seconds)
