Settle In and Get Organized

During the first 5-10 minutes of Advisory, it is important to:

  • Check your SMUHSD email and your SMCCD email (these should both be bookmarked on your laptop)
  • Think about the week ahead of you and update your planner/calendar accordingly + reflect upon what has already been completed and possibly cross off finished tasks
  • Check your Google Drive. Is it getting messy? Put things into their proper folders. Don’t have folders? Make some!
  • Check the bottom of your backpack. Loose papers? Organize them.

Finish Unknown School Share-outs

Reminder - you took the information you researched about your unknown school from a random state, and

added that information to a slide, or series

of slides to present to the class. Hopefully

you included relevant information from your

college grid, as well as images.

As folks present, you may want to add info

to your own college grid!

Extract the most important idea

The most important idea is:

—Venus has a beautiful name and is the second planet from the Sun. It’s terribly hot, even hotter than Mercury. It’s the second-brightest natural object in the night sky after the Moon

—Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and the smallest one in the Solar System. This planet's name has nothing to do with the liquid metal, since Mercury was named after the Roman messenger god
