Academics

  • It is important that seniors pass ALL of their classes
  • If a senior does not pass a required class their first semester they have time to make up the class. However, if they do not pass the class second semester they will not graduate
  • Counselors meet with each senior for graduation checks at the beginning of the year. During this meeting, seniors are told which classes they need to pass in order to graduate.
  • It is very important that seniors enrolled in an online class are attending and making progress towards completion of their online course(s).

Cal States and UC’s

  • The application window for the California State Universities (CSU’s) and Universities of California (UC’s) will open on October 1st and will close on December 1st.
  • Students need to meet A-G in order to be admitted as a Freshman.

Out-of-State and Private Schools

  • Application deadlines will vary amongst the schools
  • Most out-of-state and private schools use commonapp.org for their applications. However, some may have their own applications embedded on their website. Make sure you check each school’s website.
  • Letters of Recommendation will be required by your child’s counselor for the Common App. Please make sure your child gives their counselor two weeks notice for letters of recommendation and students should provide the counselor with a resume that includes their accomplishments on & off campus, obstacles they have faced, and any other information we should know.

Community College

  • Students can apply for the community colleges through the community college website that they plan on attending
  • Diamond Ranch has a partnership with Mt. Sac. Students are asked to sign up for the application process in the Career Center. Mt. Sac plans to come on October 30th during Period 1-6 to help students complete their application.
  • Stay updated as to when Mt. Sac will host their application workshop and Connect 4 workshop (and so much more) by signing up for the Career Centers Google Classroom.

  • Every Thursday in October
  • These workshops are for students applying to 4 year universities and not intended for community college applications.
  • Counselors are available to review applications before a student submits.
  • Students can sign up with their school counselor or through the career center

SAT and/or ACT

  • The CSU’s and UC’s are test optional. They will not use SAT or ACT scores as part of the admissions decision.
  • Many out of state and private schools are now test optional. Please check with the colleges you are applying to see if you need to send in your SAT or ACT scores.
  • SAT and ACT’s will vary between the schools; please contact the Admissions Office to see what their policy is in regards to the SAT or ACT
  • To sign up for the SAT students will go to collegeboard.org
  • To sign up for the ACT students will go to ACTstudent.org
  • All seniors will take the SAT for FREE at DRHS on October 8 during the school day

  • Students will need an UNOFFICIAL copy of their transcripts to fill out their college applications. If a student needs their unofficial transcript, they can ask their counselor for a hard copy. Counselors will not email transcripts.
  • Students will not need to send an OFFICIAL transcript to the colleges until possibly their second semester. Students will need to check their college portals daily to make sure they are meeting the college deadlines.
  • Starting in January students may be asked to send an official transcript. They will request their official transcript through Parchment.com where you can find on the DRHS website under TRANSCRIPTS

Financial Aid

  • The FAFSA/CADAA application window for the Fall of 2026 will open October 1st, 2025
  • To apply go to studentaid.gov or dream.csac.ca.gov
  • For FAFSA applicants, You and your child will need to create an FSA ID (before starting the FAFSA) by going to studentaid.gov
  • When filling out the FAFSA or CADAA you will need the students social security number and your 2024 tax information.
