Fair And Just Labour And Sustainability Practices

Because we believe in a farm to fork approach to sustainability, every company Heura works with must sign legal documents committing:

  • Compliance to all laws and regulations within the countries they operate.
  • All sourced products meet the quality and safety criteria
  • Non-GMO soybeans or peas
  • A commitment to end deforestation, and therefore, source or use deforestation-free soybeans.
  • Follow ethical principles. No forced labor, all workers are of the appropriate age, work in safe and inclusive places, work the proper number of hours, are paid fairly and have the right to form and/or join trade unions.
  • Thrive to reduce their environmental impact and commit to climate action.
  • Anti-bribery and anti-corruption
  • Promote diversity and inclusion. Discrimination based on race, origin, age, disability, gender, belief, or religion is not permitted.

- 50% less use of fossil fuels

- 44% less non-renewable energy used

- 40% less emissions of polluting gasses used

- 14% less water consumption

Full impact results of the packaging can be found here.

What means to be Net Positive?

To give more than what we take and profiting as a result. We are here to solve societal and environmental problems in a way that is economically viable.

  • As a first step, we have assessed our carbon footprint at the organization level, including our value chain.
    • We rigorously follow the ISO standard, and are verified by third-party experts.
    • We’ve developed a climate action plan to reduce our emissions. Although we have much lower emissions than industry standards, we have a continuous mission to improve.
    • We will be applying our reduction target to the science-based target initiative, to ensure that our ambition is aligned with the latest climate science.
  • Secondly, we have assessed the environmental impact of the full Heura portfolio by performing Life Cycle Assessment.
    • We analyzed the impact of our foods from the extraction of our raw materials, processing, transportation, manufacturing, retail and consumption.
    • We were the first company to perform a Comparative LCA on a plant-based fish. Initial results showed 70% less impact than animal fish
