Digital Résumé Realities

  • Recruiting websites (i.e. LinkedIn, Indeed), & large employers use digital applications actively using algorithms matching application/résumé key words to key words in the job posting. This is before any human eyes look at your résumé.

  • Scan the job posting for key words on experience or education ensuring your application/ résumé contains the same exact words. WORDS MATTER!!

  • Ensure your application/résumé “pops”. In most cases you will have 12 seconds or less to impress an HR professional.

  • Search Google, LinkedIn and other appropriate sites researching the company looking for key individuals to connect with.

  • Be PERSISTENT!! The digital application/résumé is just the beginning. If you want to work for a specific company, don’t accept a digital “Thanks for applying but….”
