AIMS Games 2025

Last week, we had 70 athletes travel to Tauranga to compete at the AIMS Games 2025. AIMS is Australasia's largest junior sporting event, held annually in Tauranga Moana. This year, over 14000 intermediate school athletes, from over 431 schools competed across 27 different sporting codes at the AIMS Games.

This year was one of our biggest years in terms of the number of teams TNIS entered into the different team sports competitions on offer. We had 5 teams in total representing us down in Tauranga. It was also great to see some of our learners taking up the opportunity to enter in the individual sports competitions on offer. We had 17 individual athletes competing across 9 different sporting codes.

Our netball, boys football, boys basketball, mixed water polo and mixed hockey teams played to an extremely high standard and ended the week with some outstanding results. Our teams conducted themselves incredibly well both on and off the fields and courts. All our of our players showed determination and commitment to their teams and we are extremely proud of how all of our athletes represented us in the teams competitions.

AIMS Games 2025

We had a team of 3 staff members attend the Games, supporting our teams and our individual athletes. Our 17 individual athletes are also to be congratulated on their performances both on and off the field and courts. They gave it their all and there are so many results to be super proud of. We ended the week with 4 medals and 3 top 10 finishes in the individual sports!

Of course the week wouldn’t be possible without the help and support of our whanau. Thank you to all the parents and family members who travelled to Tauranga to coach, manage and support our teams and athletes. Your support and help is hugely appreciated.

Congratulations again to all of the TNIS learners who participated in this amazing event. We are beyond proud of you!

Sports Camp 2025

Earlier this term, our sports camp team set off to Totatara Springs in Matamata. Our team

of 32 athletes competed against teams from 9 different intermediate schools , spanning from Whangaparaoa to Papamoa.

Our team of athletes worked incredibly hard in the lead up to sports camp. They dedicated most lunchtimes during term 2 and a lot of early mornings to the preparation of the team.

We arrived on the Monday morning and settled into our accommodation. We then got straight into

our Sports competitions in the afternoon with the athletics, swimming and kayaking competitions.

All week, our athletes did an excellent job of displaying many of the learner profile attributes and our collective strength was definitely how well and successfully we operated as a united and connected team.

Our athletes supported each other incredibly well during the week, supporting each other and

at times stepping in for each for each other, willing to do whatever was needed for the greater good of the team. We had an incredibly busy schedule with our athletes competing in the more traditional sports like hockey, netball, basketball, volleyball and football, as well as competing in the less mainstream sports like shooting, croquet, petanque and archery.

Sports Camp 2025

There were so many highlights from sports camp that it is tricky to list them all. There were definitely a lot of highlights on the Thursday, with TNIS making it into 10 semi-finals. We had teams in the following semi-finals: girls volleyball, tennis, boys touch rugby, wall ball, mixed football, boys basketball, mixed hockey, boys volleyball and mixed softball.

On Friday, there was great excitement and a huge sense of achievement and pride when TNIS was announced as the overall winners of Sports Camp 2025! Such an amazing achievement for a team where every member made a big contribution throughout the week!

A huge thank you to our parent helpers Kirsty and Brett Cameron, AUT student teacher Aimee and to Mrs Norris and Mr Redmond for all their help and support with the team during the week. The team couldn’t have done it without them.
