Each place on earth has its own physical and human characteristics that distinguish it from other places in the world.

2 Kinds of Characteristics

  • Physical Characteristics:
    • Things like water, mountains, rivers, weather/climate, soil, wildlife, beaches, plant life, etc.

  • Human Characteristics:
    • These would include both things about humans…
      • language, religion, family life, education, health

​

    • And things humans create:
      • Buildings, recipes (prepared foods), roads, clothing

Every place has a personality. Just like people, many places may have a lot in common, but no two places are exactly alike. What makes a place special? Is it the beautiful buildings and wonderful shopping? The hustle and bustle of the city? Or is it the beauty and wonder of the forest, busy with life’s drama as it unfolds before our very eyes?

  • Write about your favorite place
      • Your room, grandma’s house, or even someplace you’ve never been!

  • You must address the following questions:
      • Why is it your favorite place?
      • What makes it special? How is it different from other places?
      • What are its PHYSICAL characteristics [label each of them in parenthesis]
        • Smells, sounds, appearance, feelings, etc.
      • What are its HUMAN characteristics [label each of them in parenthesis]
