Conclusions and discussion

These conclusions are reaffirmed in the study by Sáez-Lopez and Cozar (2017), the acquisition of basic computer programming concepts in Elementary Education.

Higher education and initial teacher training must adapt to these challenges, and to the demands of today's society, taking into account the emerging trends that future professionals will encounter in the near future (Sáez-Lopez et al., 2016).

The importance of an educational design that includes a visual programming language to understand computational concepts and practices in different curricular areas provides significant improvements through active approaches and project-based learning.
