What Are the Difference Between the Two Courses?
Global Connections | Interdisciplinary Studies |
One traditional class period (47 minutes) | Double class period (94 minutes) combined with English 1 |
One credit | One grade, two credits |
Focuses only on Social Studies content in thematic and chronological order. Some units include: first civilizations, imperialism, and the world at war. | Combines Social Studies content with literature. (For example, reading Night in English while studying World War II in Global Connections.) |
You MUST take if you are registering for English 1 Honors | You CANNOT take if you are registering for English 1 Honors |
What About Honors?
There is no honors level Social Studies course at the 9th Grade level. Students can choose to take Advanced Placement classes as 10th Graders, 11th Graders, and 12th Graders. These provide a weighted grade.
