Scottish National Party
Manifesto | Spring 2015
Scotland’s Hope
Introduction
The SNP is a centre-left social-democratic party which supports Scottish independence. We believe in the freedom of the individual but with a large benefits program, oppose militarisation and hence NATO membership but support immigration and continued membership of the EU. We think that choice and freedom should be in the individual's hands where possible but that the law should come down hard if you use these freedoms to harm others. We believe in universal, free access to all health care, whatever the cost to the taxpayer as without your health you have nothing. We support republicanism and would like to hold a referendum on the monarchy over the course of the parliament, we also wish to create a wholly elected House of Lords, we will bring an end to an aristocracy but we are not communists. We believe in freedom of business and enterprise as long as, again, no one is harmed in this. We want the Churches of England and Scotland to no longer be considered state religion and for the former to be taken out of the political system. We want a secular state whilst ensuring religious freedom. We will detail our policies further in this manifesto but we are the party to vote for if you want a free, fair and independent Scotland.
