PHASE 1: ADDING THE PEAR DECK EXTENSION

  • Start from Google Slides and get the Add-on

1. Open any Google Slides presentation.

�2. Get the Pear Deck for Google Slides Add-on:

  • Click Add-ons > Get add-ons

  • On the Pear Deck page in the G Suite Marketplace, click Install.

  • When you see the message "Pear Deck for Google Slides... needs your permission in order to start installing," click Allow.

  • Select the account you want to use with Pear Deck.

  • Now that you've installed the Pear Deck Add-on, you can go back and open it at any time from the same Add-ons menu.

PHASE 2: INSERT A SLIDE FROM THE TEMPLATE LIBRARY

  • In Google Slides, click Add-ons > Pear Deck for Google Slides Add-on  > Open Pear Deck Add-on

PHASE 2: INSERT A SLIDE FROM THE TEMPLATE LIBRARY

  • From within the Pear Deck sidebar, click on the  Template Library button. 
  • Click on a category. (Beginning of lesson >
  • Click on a template to add it to your presentation and make it yours. That's it!

PHASE 2: CUSTOMIZE SLIDE

  • Click on the selected slide in the Template Library.
  • Edit the words of the slide or manipulate the pictures.

PHASE 3: START THE LESSON

  • Open the Pear Deck sidebar and click the green  Start Lesson (Google Slides Add-on) button.

PHASE 3: START LIVE CLASS

  • Choose Instructor Paced Mode, the Projector View opens for you

GIVE STUDENTS THE CODE

  • You can post or email the Session link that you get when you click Give Students a Link and students can simply click on it to join your Session. They use the website joinpd.com and enter the code.
  • When your students have joined your class click Start Class.

RUN YOUR SESSION ON THE PROJECTOR VIEW

  • When you run an Instructor-Paced Session, you can use the Navigation Bar on the Projector View to manipulate:
  • The pace of the slides
  • To see how many responses you've collected in real time
  • To show responses on the Projector View
  • You can present your slides on Google Meet. Ask students to log on using their phone or tablet.

USING YOUR NAVIGATION BAR

  • To find the Navigation bar, hover over the bottom of any slide on your Projector View.
  • Use the arrows on the left to navigate through the slides.
  • Click Show Responses to show all responses on the Projector View and click Hide Responses to go back to the original slide. Responses are anonymous by default here.

END SESSION

  • You can click END on the navigation bar.

  • There will be a prompt to name your session. This allows you to review the responses in the class at another time.
