Blackboard Integration

General Information

The Course Collaboration Tool (CCT) allows you to schedule your Zoom Course Meetings (excluding hybrid; those are scheduled by ITS) two different ways:

  • Within your Blackboard course
  • Via the myODU Portal

General Considerations:

  • Requires “Only authenticated users can join meetings” security setting to be enabled
    • Settings > Security
  • If you hold the same office hours for multiple courses/sections, follow the Schedule ad hoc meetings section of the Course Collaboration Tool: Creating Zoom Meetings for a Course (PDF) (ITS)
  • Guest Speaker? Must edit meeting from ODU Zoom Website and change authentication requirement to “Sign in with Zoom”

Part 1

  • Select the “+” symbol
  • Select the “Tool Link”

Part 2

  • Select “Course Collaboration Tool” from drop down menu
  • Enter “Name” you’d prefer to call the link (e.g., Zoom Meetings)
  • Select the check box to make it “Available to Users”
  • Select “Submit” (behind Add Tool Link pop up) and link will be added to bottom of your course menu list

FERPA Publishing Considerations

FERPA Considerations:

  • Cannot record and share across multiple sections (unless faculty only pre-recorded sessions)
  • If teaching multiple sections, cannot have students from separate sections attend meetings from different CRNs
    • FERPA Expectation: students enrolled in the same section will see each other, but they will not see others enrolled in different sections
  • Guidance for Recording Class Sessions with Zoom (The Online Network of Educators)
