SDC Mild/Moderate

A student in the Special Day Class (SDC) program may be taking anywhere from one to four classes within a separate setting from the general education population. These classes are designed to present the general education curriculum at a slower pace, with accommodated assignments and tests to fit the student's unique learning styles.

  • These classes contain one Special Education Teacher as well as one Paraprofessional to deliver one on one and small group instruction and support for the given subject.
  • Transition activities as defined by the State Education Code are presented within these classes.
  • Typically the students graduate with a Diploma.

Students within the SDC, Mild-Moderate program are also learning how to leverage their strengths to create systems for being organized and to act as their own advocate as it pertains to academic and social-emotional needs. A successful student matures over four years, and develops competency in these skills which they will use in college and work life.

The GOAL of all students’ receiving Special Education support is to work to transition into an independent young adult.
