SWIM STROKES

    • Swim Strokes are classes meant to be a bridge between swim lessons and the swim team.
    • In swim strokes, we aim for a more personal experience, building confidence and endurance in the water while still getting a swim team-esque experience without the pressure of a competition swim team.
    • Classes will begin after Labor Day
    • There will be a class held on Monday/Wednesdays and another class held on Saturdays
    • You will be able to register online/with the front desk like a regular swim lesson

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS SEASON

PRACTICE

    • We expect our swimmers to arrive on time and to be ready to swim on deck by the start of practice.
    • We expect swimmers to attend practice on their registered practice days. If changes need to be made, please let the coaching staff know immediately, because each practice group has a limit on the number of swimmers per group.
    • There are NO make-up days for absences unless it is worked out with the coach before practice. Dry-land activites counts as a practice, in the case of inclement weather or if it is planned.

**Practice starts August 18th/19th**

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS SEASON

PRACTICE CONTINUED...

    • Swimmers should give their best effort at practice. Coaches will help each child improve their strokes, technique, and endurance. With Coaches’ criticism they are not being singled out; this is part of the coaching process. Swimmers should ask questions and make adjustments as needed.
    • Children must arrive prepared with the following:
      • Swim gear: swimsuit, water bottle, swim cap, goggles.
      • Dry land gear: tennis shoes, shorts/leggings, t-shirt.
    • On days due to inclement weather we will be doing dry land practices so please make sure you have ALL your equipment with you each day.
    • For questions, please email us to set up a meeting time. Do not approach us during practice, as we are focused on the entire team.
    • Parents must be on the pool deck to pick up children 5 MINUTES before practice ends. No child may re-enter the water for free swim without their parent/guardian present.

**Practice starts August 18th/19th**

OUT OF POOL ACTIVITIES

As important as the work we do in the pool, it is important to have fun outside of the swimming pool and practice times! It is also important for us to build community through team bonding:

    • Meals by Grace Food Drive August 26th - September 9th
      • We will hold a competition between all the swim practice groups at FCY Aquatics to see who can donate the most goods. The practice group that donates the most goods will receive a party. Please see the flyer that was given for more information.
    • Packaging of Donations - September 10
      • On September 10th we will have the Silver II/Gold practice group participate in packing the ‘Break Bags’ together instead of swim practice during that time in the Spark Room on the 2nd floor.
      • This is a great way to get volunteer hours for school/clubs and to help the families and children in your community.
    • More will be posted in the coming days and sent in your weekly emails.
