• Faced with the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation, Senegal is strengthening environmental education and training as strategic levers for resilience , ecological citizenship and sustainable development .

Through the CEFE , this approach combines awareness-raising, skills development , pedagogical innovation and concrete actions in service of the territories.

National skills development strategy for climate - resilient and job - creating development

Continuum Educational

to progressively integrate environmental and climate education into curricula, from kindergarten to university, in order to train citizens and professionals capable of meeting the challenges of sustainable development.

Economy Green

Strengthening the technical and professional skills needed for the emergence of a green and inclusive economy, by aligning training programs with the needs of the energy transition.

Creation Jobs

Promoting the integration of young people into future-oriented professions, particularly in the fields of renewable energy and sustainable water management, in order to support the ecological transition and the creation of sustainable jobs.

Our strategy is not limited to theory . It aims to equip learners to respond to the specific challenges of the Sahel.

Innovative and inclusive financing

By putting in perspective our operational method of financing projects​​​ educational​ resilient , gender - sensitive and inclusive , developed​​​ as part of the second phase of the AdaptAction program .

The program catalyzes projects through three major levers :

  • To understand : Studies of vulnerability
  • To plan : Governance and policies
  • Invest: Feasibility of the projects innovative

Approach and mechanisms

Implementation of innovative financing mechanisms to support environmental education

Mobilizing alternative financing: crowdfunding, innovation funds, PPPs, impact financing

Private sector involvement through Corporate Social Responsibility and technical and financial partnerships

Support from donors and development partners to strengthen green initiatives

Financial inclusion of rural schools, youth, women and vulnerable groups

Development of community funds and local co-financing mechanisms

Funding for high-impact educational projects: educational gardens, green spaces, training for green jobs

Field Deployment and Scaling

Component 1: Reforestation and landscaping

which consists of having nurseries, disseminating new knowledge and skills in maintenance; protection and exploitation, development of agroecological perimeters and green spaces.

Component 2: Green Valorization and Entrepreneurship

which consists of capitalizing on good practices on the one hand and on the other hand generating revenue through activities introducing green entrepreneurship.

National Program for Greening Schools in Senegal (PROVES)

  • 6,750,000 plants are being replanted in schools and surrounding areas;
  • 6750 green spaces are developed;
  • 13,500 teachers are made aware of environmental issues and trained in reforestation, maintenance, protection and exploitation techniques for seedlings;
  • 200,000 students have acquired reflexes for protecting the environment and improving their living environment, through mastering nursery techniques, reforestation and sanitation of their immediate environment;
  • 10 educational tools and awareness-raising materials are produced and distributed;
  • Avoidance of 202,500 T CO2/year.
