004Song: Hello Song Play the Hello Song (see TE Page T3). Note how many of the children hum along or sing some of the words. Act out the actions and words that accompany the song. Let the children sit in a circle and repeat your actions and the words to the song
Teacher-to-Teacher Notice which children are waving and saying hello at the beginning of class every day. Work with those for whom this is more difficult.
Introduce Characters Point to yourself and say teacher. Hold up the Print and Play Mom Stick Puppet. Say her name and have the children greet her: Hello, Mom.
Introduce Key Language Hold up the Print and Play Stick Puppets of Mom and Dad and have the children say their names: Mom, Dad, Mom, Dad, Dad, Mom. Raise your hand and point to it, saying hand. Review hand with the children by asking each one of them to wiggle a hand.
005 Wave and say Hello, Dad. Wave and say Hello, Mom. Listen together to the karaoke version of the Hello Song (see TE Page T3) as you look at the picture. Have the children wave and say hello to Dad and Mom in the picture.
021 Listen to verse 1 of My Family and point. Introduce the children to My Family by having them listen first to the karaoke version and then to the sung version. Use TPR and hug the Doodle Bunny puppet to introduce the word love. Pass around Doodle Bunny and encourage the children to say I love Doodle Bunny. Then say together I love my mom. I love my dad. Sing the song My Family together. Encourage children to point to Mom and Dad in their books as they hear the words

018 Song: Look at Me! Play the song to review the parts of the body (see TE Page T12). Then say It’s your turn! Play the karaoke version and invite the children to sing the words along with the music.
Display Photo Cards of Mom, Dad, and Grandma. Have the children volunteer to take a card and place it on the board. When the family members are on the board, have the children say their names: Mom, Dad, Grandma.
Introduce Key Language Hold the Photo Card of Grandma and offer a cookie to each child. As the children eat the cookies, say cookies. Have the children repeat cookies, cookies, cookies as they enjoy them
Have the children point to Grandma and say Grandma. Have the children point to the cookies and say cookies.
005 Wave and say hello. Have the children wave and say hello to Grandma: Hello, Grandma. Point to Mom’s hand waving. Invite the children to wave and say hello to Mom and Dad: Hello, Mom. Hello, Dad. Say hand. Have the children touch Mom’s hand and say hand. Play the karaoke version of the Hello Song (see TE Page T3). Encourage the children to sing and wave to the family.
021 Sing the Values Song My Family. Have the children find Doodle Bunny. Say Doodle Bunny sings. Play the song as the children sing along to verse 1. Have them point to illustrations of Mom and Dad. Say Mom and Dad and have the children repeat. Then have the children listen to verse 2 of the song. Act out baking cookies and loving Grandma. Have the children join you as you sing verse 2 together. Practice the song several times. Say Find Grandma.
Provide black paper and have the children doodle a cookie with a piece of chalk
Think and Play!
Follow the Leader Ask the children to stand on a masking tape circle on the floor. Review the shape and say circle. Have the children repeat. Encourage them to copy your actions as you move around the circle. Say each action but don’t expect the children to repeat. For example, Walk. Stop. Dance. Stop. Jump. Stop. Sit down.
Show and Tell
Invite the children to show the family pictures they brought from home. Encourage them to say Mom, Dad, and so on. Then have them say I love my family.
020 Song: My Family Have the children sing My Family (see TE Page T20). Display the Photo Cards of Mom, Dad, and Grandma and encourage the children to point as they sing

Point to Meg’s and Kit’s eyes, noses, ears, and mouths. Have the children join you as you say eyes, nose, ears, mouth.
Introduce Key Language Have the children stand in a circle and wave and say hello to a friend. Have the children say Hello, friend as each child chooses a partner. Make sure no one gets left out.
Point to Meg. Say Meg. Have the children repeat. Point to Meg’s friend and say friend. Have the children repeat friend. Have the children point to Meg’s hand. Say hand. Have the children repeat hand. Ask the children to find Meg’s hand and say hand. Ask What is in Meg’s hand? (a ball).
Wave and say hello. Act out waving and saying hello to Meg’s friend. Have the children do the same. Find Doodle Bunny and say Hello, Doodle Bunny. Have the children repeat.
Make blue fingerprints on the circles. Place blue paint or ink pads on the tables. Have the children make fingerprints on the circles joining Meg and her friend.
013 Sing Paint on Fingers. Play the karaoke version of Paint on Fingers as a way to introduce the activity. Then sing the song (see TE Page T5) as the children make blue fingerprints between Meg and her friend.
008Song: Wash Our Hands Play the song (see TE Page T5) and sing it together as the children wash their hands
Think and Play! Stepping Stones
Place blue paper circles on the floor as a path to a particular point, such as the door, and have the children walk from circle to circle, saying blue, blue, blue. Invite the children to point to the clothing of someone who is wearing something blue. Say blue, blue, blue. We like blue
014 Song: The Color Song Play the song (see TE Page T6). Sing verses 1 and 2. Have the children listen to the song again and point to the colors they know. Have the children repeat as many of the words as they can with you.
