16-17 Year End Summary

Technology Update:

  • At the start of 2016-2017 the Wynn had two tablet carts
  • By January we added five additional carts of 25 HP Streams
  • By the end of February 16 carts were in use
  • 14 more to be added this year for 100% of academic classes to have daily access

First Wynn Middle School College Fair

Increased Collaboration with the Ryan School

  • Field/Activity Day with Wynn
  • Ryan email blasts sharing Wynn Newsletter and Wynn information
  • Ryan student ambassadors attended Wynn College Fair

Professional Practice and School Improvement Goals:

Improve feedback in the Learning Cycle

Increase classroom observations and conversations with specific targeted feedback to include:

  • Identify/suggest co-teaching models (utilize “Educator Effectiveness Guidebook for Inclusive Practice”)
  • Identifying opportunities for differentiated instruction and scaffolded support
  • Recognize and encourage a Growth Mindset
  • Include principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
  • Consult with Math Coach and Behavior Support Coaches
  • Include data from MasteryConnect and Aspen
  • Provide guidance to staff in navigating through the new standards

  • Arrange departmental meetings with Ryan and high school to strengthen vertical alignment of curriculum

  • Share newsletter and events with Ryan students and families
  • Work with high school to develop service model for high school students to mentor/tutor middle school students

Student Learning Goals:

Address achievement gaps in subgroup populations:

  • Establish grade level Student Success Teams
  • Continue to grow the use of MasteryConnect for Formative and Summative Assessment. Begin using enhanced applications.
  • Continue with Professional Learning Communities(PLCs) that meet regularly with specific agendas and goals related to implementing new standards, lesson planning, lesson tuning, looking at student work and interpreting data.
  • Continue to evaluate and improve the schedule

Improve delivery, engagement level, and rigor of STEAM program:

  • Continue to purchase new technology/materials to provide students with more hands-on science experiences
  • Work with Digital Learning Specialist to enhance implementation in these areas
  • Continue process of curriculum mapping for the Next Generation Science Standards
