AS Mathematical Studies (L3 Core Maths)

• A relatively new AS in problem solving in a Mathematical Context.

• This is a two year AS (only) course, run on two lessons per week.

​

• Ideal for those with a Grade 5 (or better) in GCSE Maths, who want to use maths in a problem solving setting.

​

• The Maths involved is at a GCSE Maths & Stats level. The problem solving skills are examined at an AS level.

​

• Ideal for students who are doing Psychology, Geography, Business Studies etc

​

• Who need to keep their maths going to support their A levels and future degree courses.

Entry requirement = Grade 5

½ Paper 1 (compulsory) - Analysis of Data; Income Tax & National Insurance;

Fermi Estimation.

½ Paper 2A - Statistical Techniques : Critical analysis of data and models; the Normal Distribution; Probabilities & Estimation; Correlation & Regression.
